Wednesday 11 March 2026 7-9 PM Owens Art Gallery, Mount Allison University Join us as we close out another incredible year of MAKER MAKER workshops and learn to needle felt with Sackville’s own Alana Morouney. We will have baskets full of soft roving for you to transform into your own sweet creations to take home. Alana will share inspiration and practical tips to get you started with this cozy craft that is the perfect antidote to end-of-term stress and long winter nights. Alana Morouney (she/they) is a sculptor, textile artist and single mother who calls Mi’kma’ki/Sackville, New Brunswick home. Alana takes an experimental approach to needle felting, often combining the soft medium with paper, metal, and leather. Alana is a founding member of Living Things Arts Collective and the owner of Slow Pony creating small batch and one-of-a-kind clothing. In 2025, Alana was an official Sappyfest Artist-in-Residence, and their work is currently featured in the exhibition Conversation Threads, on view at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. MAKER MAKER is a monthly program of seriously small after-hours art workshops. Led by diverse Maker Mentors, each workshop introduces a pocket-sized art project that can be made in two hours or less. Designed for accomplished and aspiring makers alike, MAKER MAKER is for anyone interested in making small things by hand with friends and fellow makers. This informal workshop series explores how working small can be practical, portable and playful, economical, sharable and even wearable.     MAKER MAKER is free, all materials are provided, and no registration is required. This program is made possible thanks to funding from The Rotary Club of Sackville, the Municipality of Tantramar, the New Brunswick Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture, and the generosity of Genie and Bruce Coates. https://owensartgallery.com/owens/maker-maker/
