Art = Work 25 October to 14 December 2025 Opening Reception: Friday 24 October @ 7:00 pm Art = Work celebrates the power of art and art education in rural communities, with a special focus on the contributions of women and gender minorities. The exhibition’s title is borrowed from a protest slogan created by the late Mary MacDonald, BFA ’06 (1984-2017), a beloved artist, curator, former Owens intern, and community builder known for centring rural artists. Featuring work by more than 40 artists associated with the Mount Allison Ladies’ College (1854-1937) and the Department of Fine Arts at Mount Allison University this exhibition highlights how art has always been and continues to be essential work. This exhibition complements Leaders in the Field: The History and Legacy of Art at Mount Allison (1 November 2025–16 February 2026), organized by the Marion McCain Institute for Atlantic Canadian Art at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. Curated by Emily Falvey, Lucy MacDonald, Rachel Thornton, and Jane Tisdale Find detailed venue access information @ https://owensartgallery.com/visit/accessibility/
