There is another date for adults to get together and explore how we might put together a theatrical play that includes issues of climate change.

PLEASE NOTE - we're organizing a workshop(s) for young people - we'll release details on that soon.

If you could please circulate this among your constituency, we would appreciate that.

You are invited, on Monday May 4th at 7pm at Sackville United Church, to join us for a workshop that explores themes of climate change, to contribute to the development of a performance piece with Festival by the Marsh.

    Details are below.

If you are planning to attend, please email us at sackvillefestival@gmail.com

We hope to see you there!

The Play is the Thing - The thing that may help all of us better understand what is important at this significant milestone for life on this planet, and how we might orient ourselves toward solutions!

Festival by the Marsh is developing a play about how we are all struggling with what to do about climate change, whether we are youth, seniors or simply people working to get by. The play aims to unmask some of the complications, and also orient its characters toward more positive responses, so that vicarious onlookers (i.e. the audience) will be both entertained and seriously okay, going home with options for what could be ahead.

Yes we know, this sounds impossible. That's why we'd like to get together with you, so you can help us flesh out the real issues, and identify some of the hopeful opportunities/decisions that are before us in this time of climate change. Help our (very fallible) characters manage their issues constructively. Bring care and connection to the plot for a meaningful audience experience.

Please join us for about 2 hours, to have some fun (because a play is really just 'play' isn't it?) in a workshop where you can contribute your perspectives and inform a relevant production.

Would your group be interested in working with us on this? If so please email Margaret Tusz-King to let her know (margarettuszking@gmail.com).

Ron Kelly-Spurles has been doing theatre for more than 50 years (!) and has written, directed, and acted in more shows than he can count. Ron holds a BFA in Drama in Education as well as an MFA in Theatre Directing. He is the founding Artistic Director of Festival by the Marsh, and was formerly Artistic Director of Live Bait Theatre, and Marshlight Theatre Company. In his day job he is the Manager of Tourism and Business Development for Tantramar.

Margaret Tusz-King is a local community leader who has a bit of a long-ago-experience in theatre, and a passion for storytelling that informs community cohesion and change. Over spring 2026, she and Ron will be collecting stories, perspectives and ideas from a variety of local sources, to produce an entertaining, engaging and worthwhile play in the Fall.

Eva Lucas is a local actor, playwright and director, who brings creativity and joy to all that she does. She joins Ron and Margaret in this early playwrighting and development stage with hopes that a 'sister' play involving and aimed at youth may result from this community engagement as well.
