Frederick (Ted) Doncaster learned early the value of a powerful right hand once inside the square circle and his record proved it. Ted moved to the Boston area in 1954 after running up a 7–1 record in the Maritimes. There he built a 19–3 record; 18 of the victories coming via the knockout route. Ted Doncaster laid undisputed claim to the New England light-heavyweight championship and walked away still holding the title. Upon his return to Sackville, he soon retired from the sport and pursued a career at the Sackville Police Department, retiring after several years with the rank of corporal. During this time he offered sound advice to a good many young men, both on how to be better boxers but, more importantly, on how to be better individuals.
