William (Bill) Crawford came to Mount Allison on scholarship and ultimately won Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford. He later returned to teach at Mount Allison, coached the varsity basketball team, was head of the Math Department, Dean, Vice President and finally President of Mount Allison.
Bill was an All-Star at each level of competition. He led the Mounties basketball team to Maritime Intercollegiate and Canadian Intermediate Championships scoring more than half his team’s points. He was one of the first players to score 15–25 points consistently.
In the sport of golf, Bill won the 1938 Maritime Junior Championship, and in 1939 was a member of the N.B.-P.E.I. Willingdon Cup golf team.
