A dedicated soccer coach whose active coaching career inspired athletes from 1998 to 2022. Garrity coached over 280 high school games and a similar number of matches for youth in summers. He touched the lives of over 150 varsity soccer athletes and many more across hockey, summer soccer, and track and field.
His coaching philosophy focused on sportsmanship, skill development, and teamwork, which has led to numerous achievements, including a silver at the District 2 championship in 1999 and winning the NBIAA varsity AA senior girls’ soccer provincial championships in 2017 with the Tantramar Titans.
In 2014-15, Nev was awarded the Emery Johnson Memorial Award by the New Brunswick Interscholastic Athletic Association.
A long-time supporter of female soccer, Nev was also a co-founder of the Eastern Soccer League, the first all-female soccer league in New Brunswick, that now has over 75 teams and 3000 participants at all age levels.
Nev’s commitment to his athletes and to instilling a love of the game and a spirit of positive sportsmanship is without question.
