Randy Beal began his career as a talented golfer at the age of 9, at the Sackville Golf Club. By the early 1980s his success in regional, national and provincial play caught the attention of collegiate scouts from south of the border, where he would eventually attend school at Marion College in Marion, Indiana, on a scholarship.
