    Kraft

March 16, 2026 – On the March 14th broadcast of Hockey Night in Canada, thirteen finalists were announced as part of the annual Kraft Hockeyville competition. The New Brunswick finalist being none other than the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre (TVMCC).  One of eighty-five arenas nominated in New Brunswick, Tantramar staff submitted the TVMCC with a commitment towards improving accessibility within the facility.

Following the original nomination, word spread quickly with the help of the Hicks family and other key members of the community.  This resulted in photos, stories and other information flooding into our submission page, further strengthening our submission.  Those amazing stories about the importance of the TVMCC and the very real need to make the building more accessible for all users and visitors, caught the attention of the judges and we have found us on the receiving end of $50,000 of arena upgrades, $10,000 worth of hockey gear, and a donation from Kraft to our local foodbanks.

The two finalists will be announced on March 21 to find out which of the 13 communities will go head-to-head in a national vote to win the grand prize of $250,000 towards arena upgrades.

When asked about his thoughts on being named as one of the thirteen finalists, Mayor Andrew Black exclaimed “Tantramar is excited to be part of this Kraft Hockeyville process and would like to thank the judges for their belief in us and the work we do.  We looked forward to continuing to prioritize accessibility with our winnings and would encourage all New Brunswickers to rally behind us by sharing our social media posts” from @ALCTantramar on Facebook and Instagram.
