Sackville Sports Wall of Fame

Honouring the region's athletes, coaches, managers and builders

Tantramar has a long history of producing competitive athletes and teams, along with the support of many great coaches and managers. The municipality recognizes our athletic success through two key events: the annual Sports Recognition Night and the Sports Wall of Fame Induction Ceremony, which takes place every two years.  Next induction ceremony will be May/June 2026.

Eligibility 

There are three categories for induction into the Sackville Sports Wall of Fame:

• Athletes: Candidates for election shall be chosen on the basis of playing ability, sportsmanship, character and their contribution to their particular sport and to sport in general.
• Builders: Builders are defined as officials, sponsors, executives, trainers, volunteers, coaches, etc., whose work for sport over an extended period of time has been outstanding, whether it be in the organization of leagues and facilities, achieving a high degree of success in coaching teams and/or individuals, keeping a league or team active, providing services of a consistently high level over an extended period of time.
• Teams: Teams must have been outstanding in their athletic field of endeavour, while in competition against peer teams. This involves those competing on a strictly local level and those going on to district, provincial, national and international events. Team nominees are to be considered as one single nomination. Dynasties who have had success over a period of three years or more may be considered as a single team induction, recognizing all athletes, coaches and management involved throughout the dynasty period.

Details

• Any nominee who by outstanding achievement has attained prominence in any field of sport or who has made a major contribution to the development and advancement of sport in the Sackville area is eligible for election to the Sackville Sports Wall of Fame.
• Athlete nominees must have concluded their careers as active players for a minimum of five years before their election, except where, by reason of outstanding pre-eminence and skill and at the discretion of the Committee such waiting period may be reduced.
• Team and Builder nominees may be either active or inactive at the time of their selection.
• Members of the Committee are not eligible for election while serving on the Committee.
• Under the above rules, Mount Allison Athletes that have made a significant contribution to the Tantramar sports community will be eligible for election to the Sackville Sports Wall of Fame.
