Caring for animals is part of what makes Tantramar a thoughtful and connected community. Our animal control services are in place to protect the well-being of both residents and pets, responding to concerns such as stray animals, noise complaints, or lost pets with care and efficiency.

Dog tags now required across Tantramar

As of May 13, 2025, all dog owners in the Municipality of Tantramar must license their dogs. This new by-law helps ensure responsible pet ownership and supports a quicker, safer return for lost animals.

Here’s what residents need to know:

  • Dog tags are available at Municipal Office in Sackville..
  • Proof of current rabies vaccination is required at the time of registration.
  • Tags must be renewed annually.
  • Licensing your dog is a small step that makes a big difference in keeping pets safe and our communities informed.

If you’ve lost your pet, found a stray animal, or need to report a nuisance or safety concern involving an animal, please contact our Animal Control Officer.
