The Rural Health Action Group is a subcommittee of the Memramcook-Tantramar Community Task Force, dedicated to strengthening rural healthcare in the region. Formed in response to ongoing challenges at the Sackville Memorial Hospital and beyond, the group works collaboratively to advocate for better healthcare services, improved recruitment and retention of medical professionals, and enhanced community engagement.
With a focus on accountability, innovation, and communication, the group collaborates with Horizon Health and the Department of Health to ensure rural healthcare remains a priority. Key areas of work include physician and staff recruitment, community funding initiatives, staff morale, healthcare service design, and ongoing public updates.
Deputy Mayor Matt Estabrooks serves as the liaison for the group and provides regular updates at Council meetings. Reports and updates from the Rural Health Action Group are available below.
