Debbie Wiggins-Colwell is a member of the first council for the new entity of Tantramar and was previously the first female mayor of the Village of Dorchester. She was born in Sackville, NB, and moved to Dorchester in 1972, where she raised her family of three.
She owned and operated two businesses in Dorchester from 1972 until her retirement in 2018. In the early 1980s, she was a pioneer in autism awareness, serving on several boards advocating for persons living with autism.
In 2009, Debbie completed a Tour of Duty in Afghanistan as a combat barber. A decade later, she was awarded the Molly Kool Award for her outstanding contributions to the community, volunteerism for the Village of Dorchester, and role as co-founder of the Greater Dorchester Moving Forward Cooperative.
An outdoor enthusiast, Councillor Wiggins-Colwell enjoys exploring the trails of Southeastern NB, gardening, winter and summer camping, snowshoeing, and spending time with family and friends.
